WDSD x Freshly Pressed

Join us this Mar 21 to raise awareness for World Down Syndrome Day

One of the things we've always hoped to do is to create a brand that can one day become a force for good. Freshly Pressed was started based on the point of view that socks are like your secret identity and people don't really see them till they are up close and when you sit down or take off your shoes. For those who have Down Syndrome, there are often misconceptions about who they are and what they are capable of.

More about Down Syndrome
Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder and one of the most common chromosome abnormalities in humans. It occurs in about one per 1,000 babies born each year. Down syndrome is not a disease (you cannot catch it) nor is there a cure. Individuals are not victims and are not suffering or afflicted in any way.

With early intervention, proper care and good support, people with Down's syndrome go on to lead increasing independent lives; having jobs, their own homes, relationships and so on. The play a vital role in our lives and communities and are in no way a burden on society.

Come join us in a global cause to raise awareness
For the past two years, we’ve been supporting MINDS (www.minds.org.sg) to raise awareness for the cause on World Down Syndrome Day. This year, we would again like to encourage you to join in a global campaign on 21 March and wear your most brightly coloured and unique socks as a conversation piece, in support and to help increase awareness about Down Syndrome.

Fun Fact: World Down Syndrome Day is on the 21 March (21st day of the 3rd month) to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
